Make the most of your summer

June 22, 2017 ·

Summer is officially here! For many of us, summer is typically a time of relaxation and ease. While there is nothing wrong with a break from the normal routine, we need to make sure we aren’t taking a vacation from the Lord.

For parents, it is especially important that we continue to lead our children towards a closer walk with Christ. Let’s strive towards investing more into our children this summer. Here are a few simple ways that we can lead our families towards a closer relationship with Christ.

  • Maintain a consistent devotional routine throughout summer. If daily devotionals are not currently part of your family’s schedule, this would be a great opportunity to establish this routine.
  • Build time in vacations for Bible study or attend a local church service while you are travelling.
  • Set aside time during to week to discuss what your family learned in church.
  • Spend time praying together daily.

No matter what happens this summer, please don’t show your children that summer is a time to be lazy in your spiritual walk. Use this time intentionally to dive deeper into God’s word. Spiritual growth doesn’t happen without discipline and a plan.

“…train yourself for godliness;  for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” 1 Timothy 4:7-8
