Roller Coaster

August 4, 2017 ·

Do you remember your first roller coaster ride? Did you feel anxious and uneasy not knowing what to expect? I recall the pit in my stomach as the roller coaster slowly climbed the hill, the pause at the very top that allowed the anticipation to build, and then the exhilarating free fall as the coaster raced down the track.

Even though you anticipate the ups and downs and know that they will come with great speed, it doesn’t make it any less frightening or thrilling when they come. Each twist and turn, up and down, and sound of creaking track brings uncertainty of what’s next.

Life can be like a roller coaster at times. We can go from being on the top of a mountain one day, to the next day twisting and turning down into a valley and finding ourselves in a low point. In a matter of minutes, we can go from happiness to anger and bitterness.

While our lives are always changing, there is one thing that is always constant, God’s love. Regardless of the situations that we encounter, Jesus stays the same.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8

When unexpected trials arise, the Bible reminds us to place our trust in God.  Philippians 4:7 reassures us, “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

While we may not know what tomorrow holds for us, we know that our Savior is greater than any difficulty that we may experience. Be grateful for His love and take comfort in knowing that it is always there and always consistent.
