Logic on Fire
WED, April 26 (8p ET & 9p PT)

Why would a successful doctor leave medicine behind and become the pastor of a small church in Wales? Logic on Fire brings you the fascinating and heart-warming life story of one of the 20th Century’s most influential preachers: Dr. Martyn Lloyd Jones.

We hope you will tune in nightly and tell a friend!

If you have gone into any retail stores in the last few weeks, you probably noticed Easter baskets, eggs, bunnies, and strategically placed toys. As many prepare for Easter, the main focus will be creating a nice basket, finding that perfect outfit, and preparing the family holiday gathering.

How sad that so many have so quickly forgotten the true meaning of Easter. It has nothing to do with a bunny. It has everything to do with a man named Jesus and the life-changing, amazing power of His resurrection. Through Christ’s resurrection, He conquered sin and death and offers eternal life to everyone who believes.

Why is the resurrection so important? Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:13-14, “But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.” Jesus could have lived a sinless life, performed miracles, and even been crucified, but if He hadn’t been raised from the dead, none of it would have mattered! The resurrection is God’s exclamation of eternal VICTORY!

Have you received God’s greatest gift, His son Jesus Christ? If not, I sincerely hope, you will seek His mercy and forgiveness this Easter. He suffered and bled and died to save us all from our sins.

“…if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” Romans 10:9-10

Allow this Easter to a new beginning for you. I don’t know what you are facing in this season of your life. But, I do know that the One who died on a cross many years ago for our sins has the power to resurrect you to a full and abundant life.

Living in Tennessee, I have come to expect frequent rain showers during the Spring months. In fact, over the past couple of weeks, parts of the state have experienced severe storms. And the weather forecast for today is predicting the possibility of more severe weather this afternoon.

The saying, “April showers brings May flowers,” is a good reminder that even violent storms that we encounter should encourage us to endure the soggy days with the promise of beauty on the other side. The same is true in our lives. When we go through hard times, we should remember that the hard times won’t last forever. Ultimately, they may bring about blessings that we have yet to imagine. After the storm, our lives will explode with beauty. God will use our circumstance to make the blessing even more precious.

“Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,  and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” Romans 5:3-5

As we experience storms in our lives, I encourage you to remember what Jesus said in John 16:33, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” Instead of becoming anxious and afraid, focus on Christ and allow Him to help you through. Jesus is greater than any storm we will ever face.

Statistics claim that a whopping 60 to 80 percent of evangelical kids will “backslide.” As a father of four, this deeply concerns me.

Millenials who were raised in Christian homes are leaving the church in staggering numbers, but there is hope. NRBTV is proud to broadcast Untethered, a new documentary series hosted by Todd Friel that takes an unflinching look at this disturbing trend and offers real solutions to anyone who loves a Millennial.

We’ve chosen to feature Untethered during Support Week because we believe it perfectly demonstrates our mission to challenge viewers to “think deeply” and “live differently.” This is smart, compelling, biblically-faithful television that equips and empowers you to make a difference in a culture that desperately needs the gospel.

Tune in nightly March 14-16 at 8pm eastern and again at 9pm pacific for special programming including an exclusive look at Untethered.

Have you ever looked at your neighbors and compared yourself to them? From your front door, their lives look pretty great. They look like they have it all together. Maybe their yard is immaculate or their house looks like it should be featured in a magazine.

Do you feel like you don’t measure up? The enemy wants you to think that their life is easier than yours and that they are better than you.

Truthfully, no one is living a perfect life. Everyone experiences heartache, pain and sleepless nights at times. Don’t allow insecurity and the comparison game to keep you from loving your neighbor. Chances are, they may be sitting on their porch thinking that your life looks pretty great. The things and people that you may be comparing yourself to may appear good on the outside, but you don’t know what is on the inside of their heart and that is truly what matters to God.

Everything that glitters isn’t gold. You may not know what a person is struggling with. They may have nice things, but you don’t know what they may have sacrificed to get them.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2

I encourage you to stop comparing yourself to others. God has given us all different gifts. They all work together to build the same kingdom. Spend time enjoying your God given abilities and use them to glorify His kingdom.

Do you find yourself worrying about situations in your life, your finances, your relationships, or your health? We all do at times.

Although, I trust God and know He is in control, the human side of me sometimes tends to worry. Jesus realizes that we all go through stressful situations. He wants to help us overcome our worry.

He even addressed this issue when he taught His followers in what we now call the Sermon on the Mount. He provided instructions for how Christians should live our daily lives and how our faith should guide our behavior, including how to deal with worry.

In the following passage, Jesus tells us how to not worry, but rather trust Him to provide all of our needs. This applies to all areas of our lives, including help with our problems and easing our anxieties.

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?  Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:25-34

Sometimes it is difficult to trust God with our heaviest burdens. Instead, we waste time worrying about what could happen tomorrow. Next time you are in a stressful situation, I encourage you to turn your worries into prayers. Commit to worrying less and trusting Jesus more.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:5-7

Have you ever found yourself waiting on an answer from God? I’m sure you have. We all have.

I vividly remember praying, seeking God’s word and listening to Him for answers during a difficult time. But I all I heard was silence. All I knew was to keep pressing on and trusting that God was at work even though I couldn’t see yet.

Then one day the fog lifted. Not only could I see God’s plan, but I was able to see several steps behind where God coordinated the smallest details to lead me to just the right place. God had been working behind the scenes moving mountains for weeks to bring all the parts together.

This situation reminded me that God loves us so much that he focuses on every small detail in our lives.

Even when we can’t see His hand moving, we can trust that God knows and sees every aspect of our lives. Rest assured through all of our circumstances, God’s attention and presence will never stray from us.

“I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.” Psalm 121:1-8

God will never leave you or fail you. Our God never sleeps or slumbers, He holds all things in His hands, even you.

Every day we make choices: when to get up, what to wear, what to eat, and how to approach the day. Many choices are major decisions about the path our lives will follow. Our environment, education, goals, family and friends, and heroes all influence our choices.

As a parent, I made many decisions for my children in their early years. As they grow older, I am allowing them to begin making more choices on their own. I pray daily that my children will allow Christ to lead their path, but ultimately, they have to make choices for themselves.

Jesus offered the disciples a choice that would direct the rest of their lives. Jesus called to Simon and Andrew: “Come, follow me,” he said, “and I’ll show you how to fish for people” (Mark 1:17). Though it wasn’t always easy, the disciples committed to following Jesus.

God gives us free will to choose our direction in life. We can choose to pray daily, to read the Bible, to attend church, and allow God to direct our paths. When we learn to put our faith in God and to allow Him to guide our lives, we can have confidence in the choices we make.

Troy Miller
President & CEO

Have you ever asked, “Why not me, Lord?” Sometimes life’s disappointments make us question God’s plans. Even though we may think that we did everything right, ultimately we don’t get the outcome we hoped for. Perhaps you didn’t get a job that you really wanted, or didn’t get selected to be on the team, or even experience rejection from a failed relationship.

In my life, when I look at the big picture, I can see God’s plans are always better than my own. He wants more than anything to restore our relationship with Him. So much so that he sent His Son to die in our place. All He requires is that we trust Him and let him direct our paths. When He shuts a door, there is a reason. He has something far greater behind another door.

"I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  Jeremiah 29:11

I encourage you to be thankful when God closes a door and be open to the new opportunity He has for you.

Troy Miller
President & CEO

What’s the first thing you think about when you wake up in the morning? For most of us, when the alarm goes off we begin to think about the burdens of the day. Busy workload, upcoming meetings, traffic, and other responsibilities creep into our minds. Our to-do list overcomes our thoughts and if we’re not careful, those first few groggy minutes can define the rest of our day.

Often we focus on how we are going to get through the day, instead of entrusting the day to the Lord. How much better would our days be if we began them by giving the trials of the day over to Christ? The Lord is faithful and will be there every morning with enough new mercy to get us through today’s responsibilities, demands and pains.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. ‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘therefore I will hope in Him.’”  Lamentations 3:22-24

I encourage you to fix your eyes on Jesus and cast your burdens on Him daily. He can handle them better than we ever could. This year make time to spend with God a priority. Spend time in His word daily and commit to praying throughout the day.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Can you believe that 2016 is about to come to a close? As we approach 2017, many people begin making New Year’s resolutions--goals they want to reach and things they want to achieve in the coming year. They hold forth the promise of change, of something different. Something exciting. Maybe even adventurous. But, ultimately, of hope.

Hope of spending more time with loved ones, getting out of debt or saving more money, giving up something (smoking, drinking, coffee, etc), losing weight, or trying something new.

These are among some of the top resolutions people make every year. There is nothing wrong with making resolutions. However, it is easy to see why so many keep failing at keeping their resolutions- misplaced hope. People put their hope in themselves.

Ultimately, not one of these resolutions provides lasting hope. Not one draws you closer to Christ. As you begin thinking about the New Year, I urge you to consider resolutions to deepen your relationship with Christ. Here are a few to consider.

• Read the Bible more
• Pray more
• Memorize Scripture
• Go to church regularly
• Increase generosity with regard to serving and tithing

This year, I hope you will join me in setting resolutions that will provide lasting hope.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23

While most of us look towards the Christmas season with excitement and anticipation, some experience an increased amount of stress, sadness and anxiousness. Families who don’t have the resources to buy Christmas presents can feel the pressure of seasonal expectations. Those who have lost loved ones may feel an overwhelming sense of loss and loneliness. In a season where most celebrate, many others feel more intensely the pain that life has brought them. I know this first hand, having grown up in a family where money was always an issue. Most of my adolescent years were spent being shuffled between a single mom and my grandparents. Often presents under the Christmas tree were scarce.

We all experience discouragement and loneliness at some point in our lives. Rather than dwelling on our circumstances, I encourage you to find things in your life to be thankful for this season. Even though you may be walking through a difficult time, God loves you and He is actively involved in your life.

If you’re feeling the holiday blues, give these feelings to Christ. If you’re feeling lonely, turn to Christ who came into this world in a manger, and died on a cross alone. If you’re feeling the pain of life’s unfairness, know that Christ was beaten and condemned for crimes He had not done. If you don’t have presents to give, find a way to give of yourself to others. While my mom and grandparents didn’t have much to give, the best memories I have was the time they spent with me.

Most importantly, if you have never received God’s greatest gift, His son Jesus Christ. I sincerely hope, you will seek His mercy and forgiveness this holiday season. He suffered and bled and died to save us all from our sins.

“In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.  In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” 1 John 4:9-10

Seek Him as did the wise men. Come to Him as did the shepherds.

Troy  Miller
President & CEO

With Christmas only a few weeks away, I am reminded how commercialized the holiday has become. Everywhere you look, retailers are heavily pushing holiday sales. They remind us of the need to purchase the latest gadget or this year’s hottest toy for our loved ones.

We find ourselves focusing on making sure the decorations are perfect, sending out Christmas cards, purchasing gifts for friends and family, and planning our holiday gatherings. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with any of these.

However, in many cases, we become so busy planning the “perfect” Christmas, we often forget the true meaning. So, as we prepare our hearts this Christmas, take a moment to remember the miracle of Christ’s birth. I encourage you to look at Christmas a new way this year.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of the LORD of hosts will do this.”  Isaiah 9:6-7

Make Christ the center of this holiday season. Celebrate the birth, life, death, and resurrection of our Savior. He was born to die for our sins and paid the ultimate price for us.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Ultimately, this is the true message of Christmas.

Simply sign up for Amazon smile and select NRBTV as your preferred charitable organization. It's as simple as that. The best part is that there's no additional cost and no additional trouble.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Go to http://smile.amazon.com/ch/59-3793913
  2. Select NRBTV as the charity you would like to receive contributions from Amazon on your behalf
  3. Every time you shop at Amazon, start at smile.amazon.com (it might help to bookmark it!). You’ll see the same products, the same prices, the same everything. Amazon will automatically contribute .5% of your purchase price to NRBTV.

It’s as simple as that. This may be the easiest way yet to keep biblically-faithful TV going strong- at no cost to you! Every little bit helps us continue changing lives through Christ-centered TV programming.

Over the past year, the media has inundated our lives with election coverage. Now the votes have been cast and the President-elect has been named. Regardless of your feelings toward our new President, we have a mandate from God concerning our leaders:

“Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that from which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established.” Romans 13:1

We must remember that God has ordained this presidency and is still in control. Even though a new President will be taking office soon, we need to remember that as Christ followers, our leader has not changed. God is still on the throne. He will continue to carry out His purposes in our nation.

I encourage everyone to pray for our country, especially our new President and the team he selects.
