We tend to notice God’s goodness when things are going well. Oftentimes, you hear people say “God is good” after something good has happened. But what about when life gets hard?
While we should reflect on God’s goodness during the good times, we need to also realize that God is good ALL the time. Our circumstances don’t determine God’s character.
Even during life’s painful moments, God provides opportunities for us to grow. He uses these to build character. This is evident in James 1: 2-3, “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.”
God also instructs us to use our painful seasons to help others. By experiencing a situation, we are better able to comfort and encourage others as they are going through a difficult season.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Regardless of what you are facing today, I challenge you to remember that God is good all the time. He is always working for our good.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
